Bread box turned (polka dot) sewing storage box

Do you ever buy something because it’s cute, but have NO clue what you’re going to do with it? That is how I got this bread box.. My Mom bought it from a thrift store. Although at the time I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it, I knew I could find SOME use for it. :)

After brainstorming for a while, and looking online to see what other “Bread box to..” projects had been done (most people convert them into charging stations for their phones/Ipod/etc.) I decided that I would use mine to store all of my sewing tools.

So, here is the before..

LOVED the color, but wasn’t in love with the plain-ness. :)

And here it is now..

Adorable, right!?

All it took was some vinyl and my Cricut to cut out the circles. :)

Here are some shots of the inside..

Inside is my ruffler foot that my boss GAVE me (hence, her name is one it..ha!), Rotary cutter, fabric scissors, elastic, velcro, Fabri-tac, seam rippers, needles, and some Heat ‘N Bond.

So what do you think? It came with some canisters, as well. I am having a debate (with myself..lol!) as to whether or not I should give them a dotty transformation as well.. Hmm… :)

We signed this girl up for pre-k on Thursday! (See below for more on that)
20 pre k sign up

So, you Mom’s who already have school aged children probably already know this, but getting into pre-k isn’t a for sure thing. You don’t just sign up and your child gets in. You sign up, fill out paperwork, your child gets interviewed and THEN they decide if he/she gets in. I hear that they only let them in if you are low income OR if they really NEED to be in school to get ready for kindergarten.. Well, we aren’t low income and Abby is one smart cookie buuut she has been dying to go to school since she was 2! And I cannot see her being one month from turning 6 and just starting school. Just seems crazy to me. So please pray that she gets in!

Whew, that was way more than I intended to write..lol. If you want to follow me on Instagram, my user name is “katyapicello”. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Last night before bed I checked my email and there was a message in there from Kimberlee and Meg saying that my name had been randomly chosen to attend!! I almost fell out of my chair.. Not kidding! ;) Micheal and I agreed that this will be my early Birthday present (I go August 3rd, 4th and 5th.. My Birthday is the 26th. :))

Can’t wait to meet you, Meg and Kimberlee (as well as the rest of the girls)!

Baked ziti

Today I am going to share with you one of my favorite things to make for dinner.. Baked ziti! Why is it one of my favorites? For one, it’s not hard to make (at all.. contrary to what you would think). Two, it’s just plain GOOD! So, so good.. And three, my girls will eat it and ask for more! Can’t argue with that!

I found this recipe from THIS blog a while back. I changed a lot of the recipe so I figured I would share with you today, how I make it! :)

Here is what you’ll need:
easy baked ziti recipe

-1 pound ground beef
-1 lb. box ziti pasta
-1 large jar of spaghetti sauce (mine says 2 lb. on it.. Didn’t know liquids were measured by the pound, but I’m just telling you what my jar said so that you know what to get)
-1 large container of ricotta cheese
-1 bag mozzarella cheese
-1 onion (I only use half though, as my Husband isn’t an onion person)

Directions:
1. Bring large pot of water to a boil. Add ziti pasta and cook until tender (about 8 minutes), then drain.
2. In a large skillet, brown onion and ground beef over medium heat.
3. Add (all) spaghetti sauce to onion and ground beef. Simmer about 15 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
5. Layer a 9x13 baking dish as follows: 1/2 of the ziti, mozzarella, ricotta cheese, 1/2 of the sauce, remaining ziti, mozzarella, remaining sauce then top with remaining mozzarella.
6. Bake in oven for 30 minutes or until all of the cheese is melted.
7. Enjoy!! :)

Here is what it looks like coming out of the oven:

Yum, yum, yum!

Make this for your family tonight. Promise they’ll love it. :)
