Spa party favors

My daughters turned 4 and 5 this week. This afternoon we had their Birthday party at a local salon that has a whole room dedicated to little girls. It’s AMAZING and I will share the pictures Monday.

Today I want to share with you the pictures of the favors I made for the party.. They turned out so cute!

The tags were customized for me by Party So Perfect on Etsy. LOVE them!

In the bags is a pack of gum (Walmart), a bottle of nail polish (Walmart), nail clippers (Dollar Tree), nail file (Dollar Tree) and one of those things that you stick between your toes so your nails don’t smudge…(Also Dollar Tree) :) What is the technical name for that anyway?? Haha.

I got the idea to do these favors from here.

So that’s it for today! As I said, be back on Monday with my favorite pics from the party! :)

Pot holders for Grandparent’s day

You may or may of not have known that September 9th was Grandparent’s day. I did not know about it until the day before when I saw it on one of the blogs I read!

The girls have awesome grandparent’s so I knew that even though it was last minute, we still needed to do something to show how much we appreciate them. :)

I saw this idea on Pinterest. I would love to link to the person who came up with this idea, but there is no blog linked to the picture. If this is your idea, please let me know so that I can give credit where it is due!

Anyway, here is what we made..
grandparents gift pot holders

Sorry about the cell phone picture!

All I did was get a couple of pot holders from Dollar Tree. I already had the white paint. I painted the girls’ hands white and pressed them down once on each pot holder. After they dried, I added the year, “Helping hands” and their initials by their handprints. Easy peasy! And the Grandma’s loved them. :)

Did you make anything for Grandparent’s day? Or did you not know about it?

A new season of life..

August 10th started a new season of life for me. Gone are the days of me being at home with my girls all day. Now I am one of the Moms the parent pick up line every morning and afternoon. I go to parent meetings and volunteer at the girls’ school. At first I was sad that I would have to give up so much time with my “babies”, but now I am loving it. I get a little bit of time to myself each day (forgot that existed!!) and everything that comes with having kids in school is fun for me!

Here is a picture from the girls’ first day of school:

And here is what we made for their teachers on the first day:
abbysfirst day-2

The girls both LOVE their teachers and school. They are making friends.. Micheal and I are so proud of them. :) One of my favorite parts of the day is hearing about what they did at school and seeing what pretty picture/projects they brought home that day!

Well, that’s all from me today. I will be back soon with a craft that the girls and I did recently. :)

Thank for stopping by!!

How to make a chalkboard

diy how to make a chalkboard-4
diy how to make a chalkboard-5

This is a project that I have had on my to-make list for a looooong time! Had I known how easy it was to actually do, I would have done it a while ago. :)

Now, I don’t have step-by step pics, simply because I did most of the painting after dark.. Obviously not ideal for pictures. Definitely idea for kid-free paint time, haha! But seriously it is so easy to do! If you have any questions, feel free to email me!

First, gather your supplies:
-Frame (I got mine at Hob Lob in the framing dept. when they had all of their frames 50% off!)
-Thin sheet of plywood (Got mine at Home Depot)
-Sand paper (Home Depot, too)
-Primer (Not sure the brand I got, but it was in the paint dept. at Walmart)
-Chalkboard paint (Got mine at Home Depot. See picture (taken with my phone) below)

Okay are you ready to laugh at how easy this is??

Step 1 – Cut plywood to fit in the opening of your frame
Step 2 – Sand and prime plywood and let dry.
Step 3 – Paint plywood with chalkboard paint (read the box, it tells you how long to wait between coats, etc) and let dry.
Step 3 – Attach wood to back of the frame (I used tack nails)
Step 4 –

Oh wait, there is no step 4, you’re done!! :)

So far, a certain 4 year old in our house has gotten the most use out of our new chalkboard.. :)

So, what do you think? Are you going to make one for your home? I think you should! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I will be back on Thursday night for Tickled Pink, and then again on Friday to post a giveaway! Be sure to check back! ♥

Ripped paper art project

I saw this ripped paper art project over at Junk In Their Trunk. Since we already had all of the supplies needed, we decided to do it today. :)

To do this project, all you need is some colored paper, glue, a sheet of white paper, and a pen.

These are the colors of paper we used..
ripped paper easy toddler art-5

I had the girls rip up all of the paper. They had a good time doing this step. :)

Don’t all of the colors look so pretty together?

Next you draw your child’s name on a large piece of paper (we used graph paper).
I forgot to take a picture of this step.. Woops!

Then you just put some glue on each letter (one at a time so the glue doesn’t dry up before your child gets to it) and let them put the colored pieces on the glue to form the letter. :)

Pretty cute, huh!? :)ripped paper easy toddler art
We have a lot of ripped up paper left over, so I think we will be making a few more projects. :) The girls still wanted to do more today, but we ran out of glue.. Boo!

Have you done any fun and easy art projects with your kids recently? I’d love to hear about it!

Sanitize before snuggles (Baby gift)

I just found out that my best friend (who has a son) is having a baby girl!! :) I am so, so, SO excited and immediately started to work on some gifts for her..

I thought I would share with you the first gift I whipped up. :)

I originally found the idea HERE.

I think this is a fun, practical gift for any Mom with a newborn. :) All I did was cut the words out of vinyl, using my Cricut. I bought some Goo Gone to remove the label of the hand sanitizer (both were bought at my local Walgreens). The ribbon I had on hand, but I think I got it at Wal-Mart. :)

What is your favorite gift to make for a new Mom? I would love to hear about it!

Bread box turned (polka dot) sewing storage box

Do you ever buy something because it’s cute, but have NO clue what you’re going to do with it? That is how I got this bread box.. My Mom bought it from a thrift store. Although at the time I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it, I knew I could find SOME use for it. :)

After brainstorming for a while, and looking online to see what other “Bread box to..” projects had been done (most people convert them into charging stations for their phones/Ipod/etc.) I decided that I would use mine to store all of my sewing tools.

So, here is the before..

LOVED the color, but wasn’t in love with the plain-ness. :)

And here it is now..
bread box to sewing storage box

Adorable, right!?

All it took was some vinyl and my Cricut to cut out the circles. :)

Here are some shots of the inside..

Inside is my ruffler foot that my boss GAVE me (hence, her name is one it..ha!), Rotary cutter, fabric scissors, elastic, velcro, Fabri-tac, seam rippers, needles, and some Heat ‘N Bond.

So what do you think? It came with some canisters, as well. I am having a debate (with myself..lol!) as to whether or not I should give them a dotty transformation as well.. Hmm… :)

Sidewalk chalk PAINT!

So, you may have heard of sidewalk chalk paint before. If you haven’t.. You are missing out! It is SUPER inexpensive to make, easy to whip up and kids love it!

We made some on Easter Sunday and the girls and I played with it for a long time. :)

Here are a few pictures I took with my phone using the Instagram app..

All you need to make it are the following..
-1 box of Corn Starch (You can find this in the baking section of any grocery store)
-Water
-Food coloring
-Pack of foam brushes (I got a package of about 10 for like a dollar at Walmart!)

A few things to know if you make sidewalk chalk paint:
-1 tablespoon of Corn starch per 1 tablespoon of water (We did about 6 tablespoons water and 6 of CS)
-Pour your Corn Starch into your bowl/container, then add your food coloring and water. Stir until you can no longer “feel” the Corn Starch. Trust me, you will know! The stuff is thick. :)
-I found those little containers at the Dollar Tree, 1 dollar for a pack of 5.. Can’t beat that!
-Don’t just watch your kids play with it.. Get in there and do it with them! It’s fun for adults, too. ;)

I will be back soon with a few mores posts. I was in a rut there for a bit, but I am back!
