Janelle Hayes

While I have always loved crafts, it wasn’t until I had Abby in 2007 that I really got into it. My favorite thing at the time, was making cards. I fell in love with the company Papertrey Ink and made cards on an almost daily basis..

In July of 2009 I went to the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) convention in Orlando. I got to meet a wonderful lady named Janelle Hayes.

I was the first follower of her blog. I first started visiting her blog for the beautiful cards and other paper crafts she made, but kept going back to read about her. I loved hearing about her family, her job, her faith..

Last year, the week of her daughter’s wedding, Janelle and her family found out that she had a brain tumor. For the past 9 months, Janelle has been battling cancer. On Thursday, May 10th, 2012 Janelle passed away in the comforts of her home. My heart is broken. For her husband Ken, their children.. And also because the world lost such an amazing woman.. Even though she had cancer, she remained positive and continued to update her blog until she couldn’t anymore. Even then she had her Husband update so her blog readers wouldn’t worry. :) And up until her last days, she still kept that beautiful smile on her face. :)

Sanitize before snuggles (Baby gift)

I just found out that my best friend (who has a son) is having a baby girl!! :) I am so, so, SO excited and immediately started to work on some gifts for her..

I thought I would share with you the first gift I whipped up. :)

I think this is a fun, practical gift for any Mom with a newborn. :) All I did was cut the words out of vinyl, using my Cricut. I bought some Goo Gone to remove the label of the hand sanitizer (both were bought at my local Walgreens). The ribbon I had on hand, but I think I got it at Wal-Mart. :)

What is your favorite gift to make for a new Mom? I would love to hear about it!

Insta-Friday (2 weeks worth)

Lauren crying her eyes out because Abby wasn’t here to sleep with her (Ab was staying the night with my Mom). Talk about heart breaking! :( My Mom ended up coming to pick her up, though!

First time (successfully) making one of these.. I’m in love!

I wore my Glee shirt on Tuesday when there was a new episode of Glee. :)

And I took the girls for a morning of fun at the splash park!

Tickled Pink #97

Hello! I hope everyone is having a great week. Me.. I am ready for the weekend! My baby girl is sick today, and I am not feeling too hot myself. With that said, I still wanted to be able to do features this week. Especially since I didn’t get to do them last week. It’s one of my favorite parts of Tickled Pink! :)

So, without further ado, here are the features from last week..

This knock off striped skirt from Southern Lovely is so cute! And looks fairly simple to make..

This kitchen cabinet chalk paint makeover by Live Love DIY is amazing!

I don’t know about you, but I love me some cornbread. :) Country Momma Cooks tells how she makes her bulk cornbread mix. I am definitely going to have to try this!
