Bowtie romano (recipe)

So, it is taking me a little longer than I thought to put together the post on the girls’ party. Until I get that done, I wanted to share with you this awesome recipe. :)

Once a month I get together with 4 of my friends and have a Mommy’s Night Out. Last month we all brought a dish for dinner. My friend Trish brought this. Bowtie romano. And let me tell you – I had been craving it from the time I left Mommy’s Night Out, until last night when I made it for my family! So good..

The recipe can be found on the back of the Ronzoni bowtie box..

I did make a few changes to suit my family’s tastes. Instead of prosciutto I used bacon. And I also added chicken to it.

And here is what it looks like..

FYI, it makes more than what is shown in the picture. I had already made Micheal and the girls’ plates before I remembered to take a picture. :)

And now I am wishing I had some leftovers to eat.. Ha!

Thank you Trish introducing me to this yummy dish!

Spa party favors

My daughters turned 4 and 5 this week. This afternoon we had their Birthday party at a local salon that has a whole room dedicated to little girls. It’s AMAZING and I will share the pictures Monday.

Today I want to share with you the pictures of the favors I made for the party.. They turned out so cute!

The tags were customized for me by Party So Perfect on Etsy. LOVE them!

In the bags is a pack of gum (Walmart), a bottle of nail polish (Walmart), nail clippers (Dollar Tree), nail file (Dollar Tree) and one of those things that you stick between your toes so your nails don’t smudge…(Also Dollar Tree) :) What is the technical name for that anyway?? Haha.

I got the idea to do these favors from here.

So that’s it for today! As I said, be back on Monday with my favorite pics from the party! :)

Pot holders for Grandparent’s day

You may or may of not have known that September 9th was Grandparent’s day. I did not know about it until the day before when I saw it on one of the blogs I read!

The girls have awesome grandparent’s so I knew that even though it was last minute, we still needed to do something to show how much we appreciate them. :)

I saw this idea on Pinterest. I would love to link to the person who came up with this idea, but there is no blog linked to the picture. If this is your idea, please let me know so that I can give credit where it is due!

Anyway, here is what we made..
grandparents gift pot holders

Sorry about the cell phone picture!

All I did was get a couple of pot holders from Dollar Tree. I already had the white paint. I painted the girls’ hands white and pressed them down once on each pot holder. After they dried, I added the year, “Helping hands” and their initials by their handprints. Easy peasy! And the Grandma’s loved them. :)

Did you make anything for Grandparent’s day? Or did you not know about it?

A new season of life..

August 10th started a new season of life for me. Gone are the days of me being at home with my girls all day. Now I am one of the Moms the parent pick up line every morning and afternoon. I go to parent meetings and volunteer at the girls’ school. At first I was sad that I would have to give up so much time with my “babies”, but now I am loving it. I get a little bit of time to myself each day (forgot that existed!!) and everything that comes with having kids in school is fun for me!

Here is a picture from the girls’ first day of school:
abbysfirst day

And here is what we made for their teachers on the first day:
abbysfirst day-2

The girls both LOVE their teachers and school. They are making friends.. Micheal and I are so proud of them. :) One of my favorite parts of the day is hearing about what they did at school and seeing what pretty picture/projects they brought home that day!

Well, that’s all from me today. I will be back soon with a craft that the girls and I did recently. :)

Thank for stopping by!!

You guys.. I am here!!

It’s been a long (almost) 2 months without my blog!! My blog “went away” for a little bit. My domain name was up after a year. Before I could renew it, someone bought it out from under me. I found out that it was WAY too much trouble to try and get it back! One of the steps involved using a fax machine and that is not happening, haha! SO, for now, I am back to using the good ‘ol blogspot name. It’s free, and I’m fine with it.

Just wanted to update you and let you know that I am back (and so excited)!! :)

I will have an actual post soon!

5 days.. (My favorite back to school pins)

In 5 short days my “baby” starts Pre-K and although I am nervous, I am loving all of the back to school projects and ideas that are circulating on Pinterest!

Thought I would share some of my favorites with you today. :)

A little questionnaire for your child’s new teacher..

Fun signs to hold up on their first day, for pictures! Preschool through 12th.

Love this teacher gift.. Would be so cute with candy in it!

This back to school check list is awesome, especially if this is your child(ren)s first year in school!

This is an adorable gift to give your child’s teacher on the first day..

I love all of those cutesy lunches I see on Pinterest, but let’s face it, I wouldn’t always have time to make a “fancy” lunch for my duaghter.. That is where this list of frugal lunch ideas comes in to play. :)

And more lunch ideas!

What a simple, fun way to donate supplies to your child’s teacher/classroom..

I could go on posting them all day! But instead, I will direct you to my “School” Pinterest board. :)

What about you? Do you have any favorite pins/blog posts/tips, etc. for back to school? I’d love for you to share them with me!

Open house

Abby’s first school experience was last night (Friday). I was supposed to be at Craft Weekend, but I ended up not being able to go. As sad as I was about that, I was so excited that I wouldn’t have to miss Abby’s open house!!

She was so excited to see her classroom and meet her teacher!

We tried to get pictures with her and Daddy too, but she was ready to go inside!!

She was shy at first, but didn’t want to leave when it was time. :)

I can’t believe our “baby” is starting school! In our county, for Pre-K they do this system called Step By Step. For the first week of school, only 5 kids are in the class per day. This way the teacher can get to know them before everyone is in the class all together. I love this idea!! Abby’s first day is Friday. :)

We went and got her school supplies last night, and her special requested “unicorn” (pony) backpack and lunchbox are set to arrive at our house via UPS on Tuesday. :)

So excited and nervous for this new venture!!

Abby's first hair cut!

Hello all! It has been a little bit since I have updated. I’ve had a lot going on but I am ready to get back in to the swing of blogging regularly! :)

If you are one of the Papertrey peeps waiting for a package from me, please know that it is on it’s way!!

So for a while I have been thinking about getting Abby’s hair cut. It was SOO long (past her butt). And since she is starting pre-k next week (OMG!?), I decided that today was the day. :)

I recently discovered a salon in our area that has a whole section dedicated to little girls. It was so much fun! Abby loved it, I loved it.. They have bright green walls with pink peace signs, purple curtains, hot pink chairs, leopard print “capes” to wear while your hair is being cut, a pretty chandelier.. Love love love!!

Here is the before pic:

And the after! We love it! :)
abbysfirsthaircut-4

After she was done with the cut, Abby got to play dress up!
abbysfirsthaircut-5

I think it’s safe to say we will be going there for all of the girls’ future hair cuts! :)

I have a lot going on right now! Looking for a car, getting everything ready for the girls to start school, and on Friday I am off to Kansas for Craft Weekend!! I cannot wait!

No motivation..

Well, if you are wondering why I haven’t posted recently.. Here’s the answer:

florida

Yep, Tropical Storm Debby.. Instead of taking my girls to the park or making some cute project, I am wondering if it is going to start pouring (again). Worrying about if we are under tornado watch, warning, etc.. Yesterday was Micheal’s only day off and we had to stay home all day because our area has some serious flooding going on. Like, an 18 wheeler got stuck it was so bad..

I have a few projects I’m working on right now, but it will probably be next week before I share.

Just wanted to check in with you guys. :) I will see you on Thursday night for Tickled Pink!

How to make a chalkboard

diy how to make a chalkboard-4
diy how to make a chalkboard-5

This is a project that I have had on my to-make list for a looooong time! Had I known how easy it was to actually do, I would have done it a while ago. :)

Now, I don’t have step-by step pics, simply because I did most of the painting after dark.. Obviously not ideal for pictures. Definitely idea for kid-free paint time, haha! But seriously it is so easy to do! If you have any questions, feel free to email me!

First, gather your supplies:
-Frame (I got mine at Hob Lob in the framing dept. when they had all of their frames 50% off!)
-Thin sheet of plywood (Got mine at Home Depot)
-Sand paper (Home Depot, too)
-Primer (Not sure the brand I got, but it was in the paint dept. at Walmart)
-Chalkboard paint (Got mine at Home Depot. See picture (taken with my phone) below)
chalkboard paint rustoleum

Okay are you ready to laugh at how easy this is??

Step 1 – Cut plywood to fit in the opening of your frame
Step 2 – Sand and prime plywood and let dry.
Step 3 – Paint plywood with chalkboard paint (read the box, it tells you how long to wait between coats, etc) and let dry.
Step 3 – Attach wood to back of the frame (I used tack nails)
Step 4 –

Oh wait, there is no step 4, you’re done!! :)

So far, a certain 4 year old in our house has gotten the most use out of our new chalkboard.. :)

So, what do you think? Are you going to make one for your home? I think you should! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I will be back on Thursday night for Tickled Pink, and then again on Friday to post a giveaway! Be sure to check back! ♥
